David's July 4th:
Rockabilly Bar Mitzvah

featuring Lil Luis Y Los Wild Teens

It must be a first not only in the history of Rock'n'Roll music, but in the history of the Jewish People as well: a Bar Mitzvah Party which doubles up as a July 4th. Celebration and a Rockabilly concert to boot! And what a party it was indeed!

David, my youngest boy, celebrated his coming of age into manhood with rockin' music provided by one of California's newest and hottest upcoming bands:

LIL LUIS Y LOS WILD TEENS

the Wild Teens are:
Luis Arriaga (vocals & guitar)
Rick Coronado (lead guitar)
Angel Hernandez (drums)
Omar Romero (vocal and bass) who also has his own band, Omar & The String Poppers

We threw the Party at our home, Rancho Ronny. My wife, Laurie Lee, prepared all the food and decked out the place in a massive display of red, white and blue Stars & Stripes decorations.

David himself organized a complete fireworks' show to pay tribute to the greatest country in the history of mankind: THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Guests started arriving around 7:00pm, and by 8:30pm the place was rockin' with the sounds of Mexican Juvenile Teenage Rock'n'Roll, courtesy of Lil Luis Y Los Wild Teens. What a smokin' band this is!

It is a tribute to America's universal character that a Jewish boy has his Bar Mitzvah Party listening to Rockabilly Music sung in Spanish in a room full of American flags! God Bless America!!

Well, let's stop the chatter and check out some pix:

The next evening at Temple Ner Tamid the Rabbi looked at David, checked out his pompadour and curl, his 1950s gab shirt & suit, not to forget his shakin' leg, and told us that this is the first time ever that he has Bar Mitzvahed an "Elvis-type" boy!

The Rabbi also told us how Elvis is considered Jewish in the Jewish Religion because of Presley's Jewish roots, which can be traced to his maternal great-great-grandmother, Nancy Burdine Tackett, a Jew. Religious identity is matrilineal, according to Jewish law.

This was a joyful and uplifting weekend thanks to Lil Luis Y Los Wild Teens, and, of course, to the coolest Hep Cat in Las Vegas: Rockin' David Weiser!!!
