THE CHOP TOPS AT
ROLLIN' ROCK!!

Over the last couple of years I had been reading on the Internet extremely laudatory comments about a new California band called the CHOP TOPS.

I did not pay too much attention to those reports, because, well, one does read a lot of hype on the Net about this or that band, and then, when one gets a chance to see such an act, all too often it turns out to have a weak vocalist, and a fuzzy 1960s-type guitar sound.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I finally saw the CHOP TOPS at Legend's Lounge for the Battle Of The Bands' show organized by Kats Like Us.

The CHOP TOPS won on a tie with the STARLIGHT DRIFTERS, another outstanding band. Winning the contest insured them a signing to Rollin' Rock Records! And, man alive, was I happy to sign such a great new band!!!

Apparently the boys were just as happy, in view that all four of them, unbeknownst to me, had been longtime Rollin' Rock fans!!

The boys are:

Gary "Sinner" Marsh playing standing drums, who also sings, and with the same soulful agility, anything from a melanchonic Western ballad to a scorchin' Big Beat stomper! Gary is part Sicilian, which explains the song "Sicilian" on the CD!

Brian Berman's sizzling guitar solos bring these tracks alive, and are the perfect complement to ...

Shelby Legnon, whose guitar solos are amongst the most awesome you'll hear anywhere!

Two very different styles, and yet both very intense. A killer combination!!!

And last, but not least, Dylan "Out To Save The World" Cavaliere, slapping the doghouse bass with earnest ferocity. Dylan hails from Austin Texas, and the swingin' Texas Beat is Dylan's specialty!

It all sums up to an exciting CD, which features a variety of Rock'n'Roll styles, from New Orleans Big Beat to Bluegrass, from Rockabilly to Jump Blues.

We even have two slow Gospel tinged Western ballads, very moving!

THE CHOP TOPS handle it all effortlessly, always delivering a stompin' rockin' beat, super soulful vocals, pumpin' standup bass, and growlin' bitin' guitars!

Welcome to ROLLIN' ROCK, boys!!!!!
